I think anyone who says anything negative about it obviously doesn't clue in to the nature of the sims. I would rather try 10 different setups that other people have tried out and see if there is something close to what works for me than spend days trying to tweak the horrid setups that come with the game.
In Winston Cup, multi-car teams have an advantage because they have much more data to work from. Getting setups online is like having teammates who have done testing for you and have shared their data with you - maybe it won't work for your style, but at least if it doesn't it saves you the trouble of having to find out through trial and error!
I've had a terrible time getting some of the in-game setups to work at all after working for hours. Then I have plunked in a downloaded setup, and instantly find an improvement. Its not perfect, usually, and sometimes there is a setup that I think, you have GOT to be kidding me, but usually its helpful. No one is forcing you to use other people's setups, RustyFalcon.
