it wasnt until 2001 when gordo won the winston in a back up car that all the cars became "good equipment", that was also the rise of the youth movement. hope this can help someone in this arguement lol. as for the car, grege you did a fab job ;)

Well, most good drivers won't let themselves get stuck in bad equipment.You not only need the raw driving ability but need smarts to sign good contracts with teams who have good equipment. He raced all those years in subpar equipment....well now who's fault is that? If he had top notch talent he would have been driving with a top notch organization. Unfortunatly the great racing name of Petty is reduced to a field filler.

I agree with IndyCar. Petty did twice as much as these "young guns" in half the equipment.

since 1979 he won 8 races and finished in the top 10 in points only 5 times. He is a great person, family man and does great charity work, but as a driver he stinks on ice.

Kyle is older, he is in junk equipment that he pays for, his son died while racing, etc. Let's not forget that in his prime in the Citgo car and the Mello Yello machine with Sabates that he won races and contended for a few championships. When all the young "good" driverrs like Vickers, Sorensen, Kyle Busch, Kahne, McMurray, Mears, Wimmer, etc do HALF as much as Petty - I'll tell you he stinks... :)

I beg to differ on that. Awsome driver a class act and respectful to all other drivers out on the track. Young drivers should take lessons on that. Nice car by the way cant wait to see PE back on their game

Wow... when I saw pics of the actual car today on Jayski, I thought that would be one hard SOB to paint. But you did a fantastic job. Simply amazing... great car!
